He was born in 1973 and he holds a law degree from the University of Padua where he has taught for several years Patent and Biotechnology Law and regularly lectures on Patent Law to post-graduate students. In 2000 he obtained an LLM from the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London). He has been visiting professor at LIUC University in Castellanza and he speaks regularly at national and international conferences on IP matters. He was admitted to the bar in 2002.

From 2000 to 2004 he worked with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer at the Milan office.

From 2004 to 2007 he was a senior associate with Bonelli Erede Pappalardo at the Milan office.

Afterwards, he set up his own IP/IT practice in the Venice area and opened with his associates the Padua office of the firm at the beginning of 2010.

For twenty years he has devoted his profession to IP and IT, accruing a vast experience in IP litigation with international dimension.

He speaks fluently English and French. He is member of the Patent Commission of the Padua University and of the editorial board of “Il Diritto Industriale” published by Kluwer-Ipsoa. He is the author of several articles and essays both in Italian and English (including “Controlling third party use at the border” in “Trade Marks at the Limit” edited by Jeremy Phillips, Edward Elgar 2006 and “Marketing toy building bricks compatible with Lego bricks does not amount to unfair competition” published in 2008 in the Oxford Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice).

Luca Giove is a member of AIPPI, INTA Trademark Enforcement Committee, LES International, EPLAW, APRAM and SOAS Alumni Association.

In 2017 he was a nominee for Patent Litigator of the Year at the annual Top Legal Awards in Italy.
